A review devoid of any critical analysis, and full of boring clichés. "Sexual compromise?" As someone who has worked as a prostitute for over 11 years, I found this review offensive. The writer is completely ignorant regarding syphilis as well. Rather then blaming a cripple who obviously had intimate friendships with brothel madams in order to give us a view of a life we would not otherwise have, perhaps the writer should consider the role that public health played in spreading syphilis among prostitutes because they didn't clean their speculums before the forced inspections.

An excellent, well-written perspective on the exhibit that is revealing in many ways!

Very interesting to read Robin Lawrence’s take on the “Modern Woman” exhibit at the VAG in which she discusses the sexism that women have faced and how that was reflected in the way they were portrayed and then to read Lucas Aykroyd’s review of Sting’s latest appearance on the very next page, in which he describes Jo Lawry, a well known and very talented jazz singer in only two words: “comely siren”.
Plus í§a change, plus c'est la míªme chose”¦unfortunately!
